Public Access

Warren Land Trust welcomes visitors to explore our fee owned properties “Preserves” while public access is not allowed on private properties with Conservation Easements.

Hiking trails are located on Dorothy Maier Preserve, Coords Preserve, Strong Preserve, Skidmore Preserve, Sunset Ponds Preserve, Willis Tanner Preserve (seasonal), Keith Preserve, Cunningham Nature Preserve and the Graham Brush Preserve (via CT Blue Blazed Mattatuck Trail).

Eel Pond Viewing Platform: The public is invited to enjoy the viewing platform on our Eel Pond Preserve with a seating area from which wildlife and water plants can be observed. It is easily accessible for all ages and abilities from the parking lot along Route 341, headed west from the Warren General Store towards Kent. Please remember to carry out your trash, and use at your own risk.

 

In addition to hiking and walking, we welcome the following recreational uses of our Preserves:

  • Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing

  • Fishing

  • Dog walking - ON LEASH required for the safety of other hikers

  • Scientific & Educational Studies*

Due to concern for safety and the preservation of our Preserves’ natural resources, the following uses are NOT PERMITTED on WLT properties:

  • Operation of Mountain Bikes, All-terrain Vehicles (ATVs), and Snowmobiles

  • Hunting

  • Logging

  • Removal/Destruction of Trees & Plants

  • Camping & Camp Fires

  • Any other use that would impair the conservation value of the property
